  • Beautiful smaller bodied instrument with a huge voice! Many Jumbos would kill for sound like this. It plays like a dream and shouts "quality" over every square mm. Whopper Bob nearly passed out from pleasure when he played it the other day! It prompted me to order another pair of these guitars. Photos to follow, whenever I can put this thing down!....Really!

  • It's here. I'd forgotten how lovely these big jumbo's can be. Just a gentle brushing of the bass strings and it's a number 4 on the Richter Scale. You don't really think of big guitars as finger style instruments, but the touch is so responsive on this instrument that the music just rolls out of your hands.

    It's here. It's amazing. I can't believe how pretty it is. I picked it up from John's shop on August 9th 2003 and took it to Puget Sound Guitar Workshop where folks simply drooled over this thing. One fellow nearly broke a perfectly good marriage over this thing. I can't believe how good this thing sounds with only a few hours on it. Northwood makes two styles of headstocks. This one has the more traditional style (a la M*rt*n)
    The last one we had of these heiloom class instruments only lasted a couple of months and then went to live in Hawaii. I can remember the fantastic response it received when it went to visit PSGW with me the year before.

    Northwood Mini-Jumbo Rosewood
    These are hard to keep in stock. A great guitar. Big bold and wonderful sound with impact. Hit a 3-note swing chord and the big fat solid bottom end responds. Play a Blue-grass G-run and it just tumbles out. DADGAD fingerstyle sounds rich and sonorous. Yep - it's got it all.
    This is what handmade guitars are all about. A tremendous bargain;

    A great sounding Dread ordered with thePearl Rosette Option and a gloss headstock. Very pretty guitar. But that is not where it stops. The real strength in a Dreadnought is it's ability to provide that driving rhythm in a bluegrass or country band.....and then take a lead break that won't get lost in the other instruments. This guitar has all this and more. It commands attention on every stage and is able to keep up with a platoon of Banjoists. It may even be able to bury the odd bag-piper. (Hmmm "Odd Bagpiper"....is that an oxymoron?)
